No, this is not a tribute to Jim Steinman’s song “Bad For Good.”This is about how “bad” things can be “good.”
But, only if you “follow in the way you should go.”
There are a lot of people that believe that
only good happens to those that live in
harmony with the universal laws that God
created.
But, that’s not entirely true.
You are promised that you will not be given
more than you can bear without a way of
escape being provided. You are promised that
all things work together for good for those
that love the Lord.
I have a dear brother in this very town that
has been forced to close his doors on his
business. He presented everything in his
business to God. But, he did not succeed.
Will he make it wherever he goes to? Yes,
because he has given his life to the rules
that are set in motion by God.
Another brother of mine in the Lord just had
to drop out of the Presidential race. Is that
because he didn’t live in accordance with
God’s laws of the universe? Probably not. It
means that he was not meant to be President.
It’s like one of the remaining Presidential
candidates said to the question, “What would
Jesus do?” This candidate’s answer was,
“Jesus wouldn’t run for public office.”
See, the people that believe that only good
can happen believe that God is in charge.
But, God is only in charge when you allow him
to be in charge. And, you can do that by
living in accordance with the laws he
created.
Bad things happen to good people. We cannot
control that. We can only control “how” WE
respond to what has happened.
The story of a man who had bad things happen
to him was told in Job. He was given
elephantitis which created large sores on his
body. His wife and kids were gone. His
business plundered into the ground, all so
that Lucifer could try and prove a point to
God. “Let me mess with him, and let’s see if
he still praises your name.”
Now, granted Job did a lot of whining, but he
never broke the “law” that was in place. He
never once blamed God for his situation, even
when his three “friends” tried to get him to
“curse God” and be done with it all.
He was rewarded with a more beautiful wife
and more beautiful children and a better
business that what he had before.
It’s extremely easy to fall into the trap of
violating your principles and the laws of the
universe for short term gain. Want to make
quick money? Just set up a porn site. Or
promise something that doesn’t deliver and
charge a high price for it.
You’ll get quick money.
But, you will also destroy your
reputation. And, you will never
get long-term reward.
You have got to do what it takes to hold on
to the laws of the universe that God created.
When bad times come, look for the way of
escape.
Let me let a story relay the point that what
you may think is bad is actually good:
An African king had a close friend who had
the habit of remarking “this is good” about every occurrence in life no matter what it was.
One day the king and his friend were out hunting.
The king’s friend loaded a gun and handed it to the king, but alas he loaded it wrong and when the
king fired it, his thumb was blown off.
“This is good!” exclaimed his friend.
The horrified and bleeding king was furious.
“How can you say this is good? This is obviously horrible!” he shouted.
The king put his friend in jail.
About a year later the king went hunting by
himself. Cannibals captured him and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked
some wood, set up a stake and bound him to it. As
they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb. Being
superstitious, they never ate anyone who was
less than whole. They untied the king and sent him on his way.
Full of remorse the king rushed to the prison
to release his friend.
“You were right, it WAS good” the king said.
The king told his friend how the missing
thumb saved his life and added,”I feel so sad that I locked you in jail. That was
such a bad thing to do”
“NO! this is good!” responded his delighted
friend.
“Oh, how could that be good my friend, I did
a terrible thing to you while I owe you my
life”.
“It is good” said his friend, “because if I
wasn’t in jail I would have been
hunting with you and they would have killed
ME.”
So, if something bad is happening in your
life right now, realize that it is just a
transition to good. And, don’t stop doing
right.
Make it a great day!

AHHH yes!
It is true that everything happens for a reason. To add to Brother Pauls stories I will share the old chineese proverb.
There was an old farmer who lived in a villiage on the far side of the empire. Many of his fellow villiagers said he was an un-lucky man, yet he always believed he was lucky.
One day his son was trying to learn to ride a horse, fell off and broke his leg. The other people told him this was bad as he was now deprived of his help and had a mouth to feed that was not productive. The old farmer replied that everything happens for a reason and that he was blessed that his son fell off the horse.
The next morning they awoke and found a fox had eaten most of his chickens, except for the family pet they kept in the house because it laid egss all his chickens were dead. The neighbors told him that he was unfourtunate and felt sorry for him saying he must really have angered the gods. The old farmer replied that evrything happens for a reason and that he was blessed his chickens had all been killed.
The next day his wife decided to leave him and go back to her province in manchuria. Again the villiagers said he was un-lucky and unfourtunate as his wife had left him. Again the old farmer simply stated that everything happens for a reason.
About a week later a prince with a group of soldiers came and said war has been declared on manchuria and all young men were ordered to join the army. The old farmer simply smiled as the other villiagers wept. His son could not go because he had a broken leg so the prince dismissed him from serving.
A week later a courtier came and declared a chicken tax, all people were to pay gold for every chicken they owned. The tax was needed to pay for the war. The old farmer again smiled as he had only one chicken and so paid vary little tax, while the rest of the villiage either went broke or went to prison.
About a month later the manchurian army swept into the villiage and began to execute any male in the villiage that could walk. The old farmer told the soldiers his wife was in manchuria and he had to stay with his son who had a broken leg. The soldiers let him go.
By the end of the summer he was the only man in the villiage besides his son. So he directed the women of the villiage in the harvest of the rice. Since there were so many fewer people to feed there was an abundance of rice. Soon the prince came back and saw the large amount of rice and paid the old farmer a large amount for the rice, and hired all the women of the villiage to carry it to the capital.
The old farmer took his money, and his son and moved to the himilayas where they both met woman and they and lived happily ever after.
So you see things happen for a reason, the pain is that the reason is not always apparent.
Be Blessed
